Barkhausen testing during fluting with DrillScan
When fluting, large quantities of material is removed, often in a single step. With this often deep cutting it is difficult to get a proper flow of coolant in the grinding area. Grinding burn can change both microstructure and hardness of your product.
The Barkhausen signal is present soon, well before colouring of the material occurs. Due to the sensitive equipment the ginding burn can be detected in an early stage.
