The chosen milling strategy greatly influences the quality of the work piece surface. Tensile and compressive stresses can be measured through XRD (X-ray diffraction) and gives an absolute value in MPa.

Adjusting the cutting angle changes the stress in the material. Stresses on the surface are always present and may have an adverse effect on the work piece. The vertical axis is the stress and the horizontal axis displays the angle of the cutter in degrees
